Broken Road with Bark Groundtruthers

Bark – Newsletter
“September Bark Alert: Roadways Harm Recreation on Mt. Hood”

Like other pieces I wrote for Bark during this time, the September Newsletter focused on road reduction in Mt. Hood National Forest.

Client: Bark is a Portland 501(c)(3) working to protect Mt. Hood National Forest.

Project Description: Produce the September Bark Alert email and online newsletter, highlighting important news and events relevant to organization supporters. Topics were provided by various staff members, for which I wrote and edited content, selected and edited photos, and arranged layout.

A Quote

“As a state, we have already changed our priorities from logging to recreation—it’s high time the Forest Service changed theirs.”

The Inside Scoop

Like other pieces I wrote for Bark during this time, the September Newsletter focused on road reduction in Mt. Hood National Forest.

The Forest Service was looking to reduce road volume in the National Forest system, and Bark wanted to make sure it was done right—with recreation roads maintained, and logging roads removed.

Also, this newsletter reminded readers that Bark had recently moved into a new office following a fire in their old building.

My Favorite Part

The lead in to the special thanks list: “Here we would like to acknowledge some of the incredible folks who helped us stay on beat even as the dance hall was burning.” I just love that image—if I do say so myself.
